BAIL FUND PORTRAITS:
After the murder of George Floyd in the summer of 2020, the intense feeling of helplessness and wanting to fight injustice in any way I could inspired this project. And so an idea was born. I would've never thought that selling portraits for $20 each, could have grown to reach $6000 worth of donations. With everyone's donations we donated to Philadelphia Community Bail Fund, Atlanta Solidarity Fund, Massachusetts Bail Fund, and the Association for Black Economic Power based in Minneapolis. All the proceeds from the portrait sales went directly to these funds, and they were used to help bail out protestors, provide mutual aide for people who's lives were upended by cash bail, to be used for black wealth empowerment, and to help hire full time staff for nonprofits trying to fight the inequality in the cash bail system. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed to this project!
